Dr. Carolina knew from a young age that she would be a veterinarian. She grew up in Las Cruces, NM, showing and training dogs for conformation and performance events with her mother. Along with dog sports, she showed horses in Western performance events. These early experiences and a deep development of the human-animal bond inspired her to become a veterinarian. When she was fifteen, Dr. Carolina began working as a veterinary assistant. She continued to work in different veterinary clinics throughout high school, college and veterinary school. Dr. Carolina earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from New Mexico State University. She then went on to receive her doctorate in veterinary medicine from Auburn University. After veterinary school, Dr. Carolina went into an equine internship in Indiana. She has since practiced as a mixed animal veterinarian. While practicing, Dr. Carolina attended Chi University in Florida to become certified in veterinary acupuncture. This cultivated a passion for alternative or holistic medicine and she enjoys providing acupuncture and cold laser therapy services to her clients, along with traditional Western medicine.
